Patients with true precocious puberty have laboratory results that are equivalent to the results obtained in normal puberty. Thus, levels of alkaline phosphatase will be elevated, and nocturnal episodic gonadotrophin secretion and increased gonadotrophin response to the GnRH test are noted.
Children with precocious puberty may have associated electroencephalographic abnormalities.
